As of the 25th of July, the Government’s Help to Grow scheme will benefit ecommerce companies. In the UK, over 1.2 million businesses now qualify for the scheme. The scheme assists businesses in attaining the latest digital technologies, where prices for top of the market software are sliced.

Furthermore, online retailers will be pleased to learn that this new iteration of the scheme is ideal for SMEs in a number of ways. Firstly, the scheme has lowered the requirement of needing 5 employees to only 1. Additionally, a variety of ecommerce software has been added. This encompasses software to assist in retrieving payments, gathering analytics on customer needs and helping improve stock management. Such names are included: ShopWired, EKM, BigCommerce, GOb2b and Comgem. More information on what is on offer can be found here

We’re not done there! Companies are now able to get a £5,000 discount across 30 different types of software. All of which come from market leading suppliers centring on CRM, ecommerce and Digital Accounting.

The government has also exclaimed how as part of the Help to Grow: Digital scheme, support through one-to-one advice will be given to SMEs to help strategise adoption of digital technologies. Applications for advice platforms will be administered by the government as of the 25th of July to work alongside the scheme. The advice service will go live in the latter part of 2022.

“This is extremely welcome news for a significant number of the 300,000 small businesses who use eBay every day to grow their business. Many of our commercial sellers are micro-businesses who are extremely entrepreneurial but inevitably time poor.

“Being able to purchase e-commerce and other productivity-enhancing software at a discount could really help give rocket boosters to what are already fast-growing businesses. And given that three quarters of our small businesses are based outside London and the South East, this also has the potential to boost the government’s Levelling Up agenda.”
